Nutrition for your MIND

A recent study found that the MIND diet (Mediterranean-DASH Intervention for Neurodegenerative Delay) may reduce the risk of developing Alzheimer’s by 53%.

A combination of Mediterranean and DASH diets, the MIND diet is comprised of plant based foods, olive oil, and limited animal products like meat or dairy. Leafy greens, whole grains, berries (especially blueberries), and nuts form the basis of this diet –– while it is equally as important to avoid processed foods, red meat, cheese, and sugary pastries.

At JP, much of our menu is MIND friendly. Here’s a shortlist of some of our favorite brain foods:

+ F$%#ing Genius Blueberry Protein Smoothie: There’s a reason this smoothie is called Genius – with brain boosting blueberries, almonds, chia & flax, this is our go-to superfood for your brain.

+ Fountain of Youth Smoothie: Packed with antioxidants from blueberries, strawberries, and raspberries as well as omega-3s from flaxseed & chia, our Fountain of Youth has long been a delicious favorite.

+ Green Light: This smoothie makes it easy to take down leafy greens and includes a booster of your choice. We recommend almond butter or blueberries for the MIND diet.

+ Strawberry Dragonfruit Overnight Oats: A delicious jar of whole grains with berry-packed power? No brainer!

+ Roasted Veggie Salad: The Roasted Veggie Salad has dark leafy greens, an assortment of flavorful roasted veggies, a crunchy seed topping, and olive oil — all important components of the MIND Diet.

+ Boosters: Blueberries, strawberries, and pomegranate are rich in antioxidants and can easily be added to any smoothie. Almond Butter is an excellent way to add healthy plant based fats. Hemp, Flax, and Chia seeds are all very rich in Omega-3s for heart health.
