Our homemade soups have long won the hearts of many Juice Press fans. Despite being better known for our smoothies, acai bowls, and cold-pressed juices, we’ve sold more than one million servings of hot soup! What many people don’t know is that all of our soup is crafted from all natural and organic ingredients in our Long Island City Super Kitchen. Eight years ago, when we first set big goals around this menu item, one of our objectives was to prove that we could be world class in soup too. After all, in many ways soup is just hot juice. Right? Today, we can say that we’ve achieved not only this goal, but much more — including proving that flavor profiles can meet ingredient profiles with added benefits like a low sodium soup.

It’s always comforting, never too heavy, yet nutrient-dense, and (the best part), available in seemingly endless variations. All of our organic soups are crafted to be nourishing and easy to prepare. With a rotating menu of delicious recipes, the only hard decision is which one to try first: Butternut Squash and Quinoa Soup, Split Pea Soup, Vegetable Protein Soup, Egyptian Red Lentil, Pureed Cauliflower — even Healing Broth.

One reason our Juice Press soup is so famous is because each recipe is carefully designed to be low-sodium. Because, here’s the thing: one of the biggest culprits for sneaky-high levels of sodium is... soup. Especially when canned and shelved (and maybe even painted by Andy Warhol).

Often overlooked and overused because of its binding and stabilizing quality, salt (known as sodium chloride on nutrition labels) can be found in high concentrations in packaged or pre-prepared foods. While a certain amount of the electrolyte is considered healthy and necessary (especially for athletes), too much sodium can leave unsavory effects on your body, like raising your blood pressure and increasing your risk for heart disease and stroke, all while leaving you feeling bloated.

A low-sodium diet is as easy as a few quick changes:

  • Switch from granulated table salt to natural salt, like Himalayan pink salt, which are much less processed. Chunky salt is counterintuitively lower in sodium than its denser, finely-ground counterpart.

  • Opt for Juice Press homemade, USDA certified organic salad dressings. Most salad dressings don’t just pack sodium, but sugar too. At Juice Press, you can choose from dressings like Green Sauce, Carrot Ginger, Scallion Vinaigrette and more.

  • Choose Juice Press low-sodium soups! Try our Winter Soup and Juice Plan too.

Healthy food can be delicious. Pick up your soup heated in our store or take home a family size that can be heated at home. Bon appétit!
